FAQ

Here we have listed some of the frequently asked questions that community representatives ask. If you haven't found the information you need, ask a question in the contact us form
Who are you? #
We are Crucial Experiment, an independent development team creating games using Unreal Engine and Ren'Py. We develop projects across several genres — visual novels, fan games based on the franchises we love and appreciate, experimental games where we test new ideas, build unique stories and perspectives, and more.
What kinds of games do you make? #
Our projects are about storytelling and experimentation. We create visual novels, fan games, and experimental titles where we try out mechanics, test narrative ideas, or just do something new and personal. Atmosphere and storytelling are always at the core of what we do.
Why do you use Ren'Py and Unreal Engine? #
We choose the engine based on the project’s needs. Ren'Py is a great choice for visual novels thanks to its flexibility and simplicity. Unreal Engine, on the other hand, we deeply appreciate for its structure, its coding system using both C++ and Blueprints, and its overall power. While we can use Unity, we do so very rarely.
Do you only make games? #
Not at all. We also develop tools, programs, and libraries that help with our workflow and may assist other developers as well. Most of these eventually become open source and are released under the MIT license. We’re not planning to sell them — at least, not for now.
Can I use your tools? #
Yes, you can freely use our tools. They're either open source or freely available, and we fully support others using or building upon them.
Can I collaborate with you? #
Absolutely. We’re always open to collaboration. We're looking for artists, writers, programmers, game designers, sound designers, composers, and 3D modelers. If you'd like to work with us, feel free to contact us at crucialexperiment@mail.ru or through the contact form on our website.
Where can I download or buy your games and tools? #
Each product page — whether it's a game, a tool, or a program — includes a "Download" or "Buy" button (depending on whether it's free or paid). These pages contain updated links for purchase or download, current pricing, and discounts. We publish our projects on platforms like Steam, VK Play, and GameJolt. You’ll also find direct links to repositories like GitHub when applicable.
How can I support your work? #
You can support us by spreading the word, backing us on Boosty, or leaving reviews and feedback on platforms like Steam, VK Play, or anywhere else our projects are available. Every bit of support helps, and we truly appreciate it.
